Pour contempt on all my pride

When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ my God:
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood
When I Survey The Wondrous Cross, by Isaac Watts, first two verses. We sang this in the evening service on Sunday.

  1. What was the inspiration behind this blog besides the fact that you sang it on Sunday?

  2. I just posted it as a reminder to myself. The "pour contempt on all my pride" line stood out the most, but the other lines are really good too.
